Anxious Patients

At Asquith Dental, your comfort is important to us. We appreciate that there are many individuals who don’t enjoy coming to the dentist and in fact can experience anxiety during dental visits, taking this into consideration we have various options at our practice to try and cater to these needs and help you feel more comfortable. Below we have a few services to help calm your fears:

Happy Gas/Nitrous Oxide

Nitrous Oxide, commonly known as happy or laughing gas is a colourless, non-flammable gas that has a slightly sweet taste and odour. It is safe to use on both adults and children and provides a relaxed effect when inhaling it for the duration of the dental treatment. Its effects stop, and the patient regains full function within only a few minutes after stopping the inhalation.

Penthrox

The Penthrox inhaler is a self-medication tool to reduce pain. Its active ingedient is methoxyflurane. This inhaler allows the patient to have full control over the pain relief. The pain relief starts after 6-10 breaths and does not completely eliminate the pain but does effectively reduce the severity of the pain.

Intravenous (IV) Sedation

At Asquith Dental we also offer IV sedation that is administered by a qualified professional who will visit the practice for your pre-booked appointment. IV sedation presents the opportunity to have a dental treatment completed in an anxiety-free condition.

IV sedation is a sedative used during dental treatments for patients who require extra care due to:

While under IV sedation time goes swiftly for patients. It provides a deep feeling of relaxation and the patient remembers little, if any, of the dental treatment.

Ask our friendly team as Asquith Dental for more information on this service. If this is something you require please notify our team at the time of booking so the qualified professional can be booked to visit the practice for your appointment.
